Justice’s perception was spot on. “Commander, DEHD Core operations will be available in fourteen minutes. Unless you have another destination in mind, I will transition the Legacy to Sorva Laya.”

“That will do Justice. Please carry on.”

To my surprise, Sushi and Pasta approached me and saluted. “Commander Myers, may we have a word with you?”

“Of course, Sushi. Is there something you need?”

“Commander, Pasta, and I have several duties that we are sure have been neglected in our absence. If it would not trouble you, we would like to go back to Venture.”

I was mildly surprised by the request, but it was not too hard to figure out why. The two Sig troopers probably feared they would be stuck shuttling freighters during my clans move. It was not my intentions to do that to them, but their request could not have come at a better time. Both Sushi and Pasta have been on the Legacy several times. Only blindness could keep them from noticing the new reenforced hatch in the hangar. They have yet to ask about it, but it was just a matter of time before they figured out we had a new capability. Even though they were not security risks, I was not ready to explain what goes on behind that hatch just yet.

I used what little tact I had at my disposal, and made it seem like their request was a disappointment. I rubbed my chin and nodded. “If you’re sure that is what you want to do, I have no problems with your request.”

Both Sig troopers apologized for the inconvenience, but reiterated that they were ready to get back to their regular duties.

“Justice, jump us to Venture when you’re ready.”

“Acknowledged Commander, we will transition to that location in three minutes.”

Sushi and Pasta excused themselves to collect their gear in preparation for departure.

Tria looked at me and smiled. “That would seem to be a fortuitous event.”

I shrugged my shoulders. “That, or they are mad that we haven’t shared our latest secrets with them yet.”

Our awareness faded away and then quickly returned. “Justice, alert Venture that we have arrived.”

“Message sent Commander. We have been directed to a secure landing area.”

“Roger that Justice, take us there at best speed.”

Sael stepped from the lifts with a smug look on her face. I gave her a frown that nullified her self-satisfaction.

She threw out a supplicating comment in her defense. “It was your prerogative. You could have asked someone else to escort the General.”

Her attempt to somehow make her actions sound like they were partially my fault, rang hollow. I took Tria by the hand and turned away. I had nothing useful to say to her at the moment. The way she handled the General would not have irked me if it wasn’t for the fact that the General would take out his frustration on me and not her.

Justice landed in the designated hangar and we quickly disembarked. Tam Lin was waiting with a big smile. Sushi and Pasta ran to meet her. Both took turns sweeping her off the ground and giving her a good old fashion human hug.
